Woman pilot killed in IAF aircraft crash

Hyderabad, May 12 : A woman trainee pilot was killed when an Indian Air Force Academy trainer
aircraft crashed Monday in Andhra Pradesh's Medak district.

The crash occurred Monday evening at Dacharam in Jinnaram mandal of Medak district, about
100 km from here.

The HPT-32 trainer crashed a few minutes after taking off on routine training mission from the
Indian Air Force Academy, Dindigul, on the city outskirts. Police said the flying cadet, identified
only as Gitika, died on the spot. A large number of people from surrounding villages gathered at the
crash site.

Technical snag is believed to have led to the mishap. The Indian Air Force has ordered a probe.
